Quinda Verheul is inspired by big scientific topics such as the hydrological cycle of water and the erosion of the earth, and natural forces such as wind, water and sunlight. But also the mining industry - where man dig for treasures to continue feeding global consumption. These practices affect landscapes worldwide.
In her work Quinda uses mirrors and shows both the human perspective and the experience of emptiness and reflection. With this she creates strange landscapes that offer a kind of recognition, but can also be part of another world. Her work is usually site-specific and temporary and thus focuses on art itself: what role does time and sensory presence play in the valuation of a work?
