Primordial matter

Ice and glass installation reflecting the natural water cycle (2015)

Imagine a river delta where melting ice crystals flow to, from the highest cover of the earth towards an infinite body of water.

To me water in all its forms represents the process of growing from zero to many. A basal continuity wherein the multiple always prevails over the single. To me this process is a clear metaphor of how water is present as a primordial matter.

Water literally transforms the shape of a landscape. And I made this transformation into a transparent shaped landscape that fills with melting water.

Starting from an ice sculpture that melts, and while more and more water enters the deeper parts of the river banks, it takes new forms and eventually overflows the entire form.

Then it evaporates and leaves behind an empty world.
